■What kind of sterilization method do we have?
There are many methods other than alcohol disinfection to prevent infections of the new coronavirus, and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Consumer Affairs Agency recommend that you select the method that suits your purpose.
Specific examples include not only alcohol disinfection, but also hand washing measures, disinfection with hot water, utilization of chlorine bleach, and utilization of surfactants.
Our disinfectant products also have a diverse lineup of products that use alcohol as the active ingredient, those that use stabilized chlorine dioxide as the active ingredient. We will explain about them in this page.
Please select the correct product according to your purpose of use.

■01.Sterilization with alcohol
・Are there any viruses that cannot be sterilized with alcohol?
Sterilization with alcohol is a well-known general method of sterilization.
However, it is said that the effect will be weakened if the concentration is too low or too high, and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare recommends using it at a concentration of 70% to 95%.
Alcohol is particularly effective against enveloped viruses (viruses with a lipid membrane), but is said to be less effective against non-enveloped viruses such as norovirus.
・Is there a test result of the sterilization effect of alcohol?
Test results have been obtained to reduce Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus by 99.99%.
・Is it okay to use it on the human body?
Our alcohol disinfectant products have no adverse effects on the human body. There are products that can be used for things (handled as daily miscellaneous goods) and products that can be used for fingers (handled as cosmetics).
・Are there any precautions for use?
Be careful of fire, as high-concentration alcohol is very flammable.
Also, please be careful about the storage location (not too hot).
■02.Sterilization with stabilized chlorine dioxide
・What is “stabilized chlorine dioxide”?
Chlorine dioxide has the property of denaturing proteins by oxidation, so it can be inactivated by changing the structure of viruses and pollen.
However, chlorine dioxide is not suitable for long-term storage because it is in a gaseous state at room temperature (boiling point is 11 ° C and melting point is -59 ° C) and is easily decomposed by heat and light.
Therefore, our products use “stabilized chlorine dioxide,” which enables the stable release of chlorine dioxide in a state where it can be stored for a long period of time.
・Is it the same as “sodium hypochlorite” or “hypochlorous acid water”?
Stabilized chlorine dioxide is a substance that chemically contains chlorine but is different from “sodium hypochlorite” and “hypochlorous acid water”.
Sodium hypochlorite is a strongly alkaline substance used as the main component of chlorine bleach, and it is said that it is effective to dilute it to about 0.05% (500ppm) for disinfection of the new coronavirus.
Hypochlorite water is a weakly acidic liquid made by methods such as electrolysis, but it has the property of rapidly diminishing its effect over time depending on the storage conditions, so it is necessary to pay attention to the expiration date at the time of purchase.
NITE (National Institute of Technology and Evaluation) has announced that hypochlorite water should have an effective chlorine concentration of 80 ppm or more for wiping, an effective chlorine concentration of 35 ppm or more for running water, and an specified expiration date. It is recommended to be in the range.
The stabilized chlorine dioxide used by our company is commercialized with “sodium chlorite” (* Note, not hypochlorite) as the main component, and is weakly alkaline.
Unlike sodium hypochlorite (chlorine bleach), it does not need to be diluted and used, so dangerous work is not required, and it is easier to store for a long time than hypochlorite water.
・Does it work against coronavirus?
Chlorine dioxide itself has the property of oxidizing and altering various substances, and also acts on bacteria, viruses, pollen, mold, etc.
However, since our products are not “pharmaceutical products”, individual effects on specific viruses, pathogens, and diseases are not stated in the products.
・Is there a test result of the sterilization effect of your stabilized chlorine dioxide products?
Test results by SGS have obtained a 99.9% reduction in Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
Based in Geneva, Switzerland, SGS is the world’s largest certified company for inspection, verification, testing and certification.
With more than 1800 offices and research institutes in each region of the world, they carry out inspections and tests in each industrial field, and certification of standards set by public institutions.
・Are there any precautions for use?
Stabilized chlorine dioxide is said to be a relatively safe ingredient. However, avoid spraying or inhaling the spray directly onto the human body.
The Chlorine Dioxide Industry Association has set the indoor concentration guideline value (voluntary standard) for space sterilization products to 0.01 ppm. Also, do not use metal or leather products as they may corrode them.
In addition, stabilized chlorine dioxide reacts when mixed with other acidic substances to rapidly generate chlorine dioxide. Please do not mix it.

■03. Sterilization with wet wipes
・How does it compare to liquid type sterilization products?
In addition to the sterilization effect of the impregnated component of wet cloth, the synergistic effect of “physically wiping” enables quick and speedy sterilization.
